When you start grinding Fire Works kills in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Zombies, it hits you pretty fast that the game does not hand out progress for free, even if you are coming from a relaxed CoD BO7 Bot Lobby style session. The system is strict: if your bullet finishes a zombie before the Fire Works effect pops, that kill does not count at all. A lot of players just hold the trigger and melt the whole wave, then wonder why the challenge bar barely moves. The trick is learning to let the mod do the killing, not your gun damage, so every explosion actually moves you closer to that 300-kill target.

    Setting Things Up Properly
Before you even queue into a match, slow down and sort your upgrades. Jump into the Zombies menus and check the Fire Works Ammo Mod tree, because running the basic version is pretty much throwing away your time. You want the Starburst augment unlocked and equipped as soon as possible. This thing changes how the mod feels in game. Instead of a tiny bit of extra damage, you get an instant blast that kicks out several flares, and those flares splash everything packed around the target. Now you are not just tagging a single zombie; you are hitting chunks of the horde whenever it goes off.

    The Starburst And Starlight Combo
Once Starburst is online, the next piece of the puzzle is pairing it with the Starlight augment. On its own, Fire Works can feel a bit underwhelming, like it fires once and barely scratches the crowd. With Starlight running, you push out even more flares on every activation, and the radius of chaos gets a lot bigger. Without these augments, you might see five or so zombies drop on a good proc. With both active, you can easily double that. Suddenly the grind stops feeling like you are chipping paint off a wall and starts to look more like a proper wave-clear tool.

    In-Match Strategy And Positioning
When you spawn in, check that the right mod and augments are actually on your weapon, then play like you are setting up highlight clips, not just surviving. Do not waste bullets finishing off random stragglers. Use your Aether Shroud or just clean movement to pull zombies into a tight train, hugging walls and looping corners until you have a proper ball of bodies behind you. Once the group is stacked, turn, take a couple of shots into the middle, and then stop shooting as soon as the Fire Works effect shows. Starburst should rip through the cluster in one quick burst, sometimes netting 15–20 kills off a single trigger if your damage is tuned right and you are not overkilling them first.

Fixing Bad RNG And Speeding Up The Grind
Sometimes the problem is not your aim at all; it is the mod refusing to trigger often enough. If that is happening, slot in the Citrus Focus augment. It bumps up the activation chance for ammo mods, so you are not waiting half a magazine just to see one Fire Works proc. With Citrus Focus, Starburst and Starlight all working together, the whole challenge speeds up a lot. You can turn what used to feel like an hour of lazy spraying into a focused loop of pulling trains, popping a few shots, watching the explosions clear the wave, then setting up the next group. Once you get used to that flow, the same approach also works for other ammo mod challenges, whether you are playing sweaty public matches or messing around in more relaxed CoD BO7 Bot Lobbies with friends.
