The latest Netflix ISP Speed Index highlights notable shifts in streaming quality across various regions. South Korea’s D Live led the charge with a significant increase of 0.59 Mbps, boosting its average to 2.84 Mbps from December’s 2.25 Mbps. Thailand’s AIS and Israel’s Netvision also experienced improvements, gaining 0.45 Mbps and 0.30 Mbps respectively.
Conversely, several providers faced speed declines. Saudi Arabia’s STC saw the largest drop, losing 0.70 Mbps and falling to an average of 2.17 Mbps, down from 2.87 Mbps in December. This decline contributed to Saudi Arabia slipping nine places in the country rankings, now ranking 54th overall.
In the Asia-Pacific region, speed reductions were observed in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Taiwan. Indosat-Fibre's speeds decreased to 3.69 Mbps from 4.26 Mbps, while Neuviz slowed to 1.80 Mbps from 2.26 Mbps. Malaysia’s Telekom Malaysia Berhad dropped 15 spots to 38th place, with a 0.64 Mbps reduction in speed. Taiwan’s KBro also saw a decline, with speeds falling to 3.05 Mbps from 3.40 Mbps, causing the country to drop five positions to 31st.
Other countries experienced notable decreases as well. In the United States, Hargray’s speeds dipped to 2.41 Mbps from 2.89 Mbps; Greece’s Wind Hellas fell to 2.62 Mbps from 3.03 Mbps; and Colombia’s ETB decreased to 2.54 Mbps from 2.94 Mbps.
The Netflix ISP Speed Index measures primetime Netflix streaming performance for specific internet service providers, reflecting qualities like picture clarity, startup speed, and stability. It does not encompass overall network performance for other services.
